What's Your Interior Style Personality? Take the ultimate quiz!
What's your Interior Style Personality? It's a question I posed on my Instagram a few months back and something I've been thinking about a lot ever since. The glorious hub that is Pinterest means that we have millions of inspirational interiors images at our fingertips at the click of a button. Which is brilliant. But it can also be a bit overwhelming. We recently had to stage a Pinterest intervention for a friend who is renovating her house. She had fallen head first into a Pinterest hole so deep that her mind had become muddled and befuddled by TOO. MUCH. CHOICE and she was questioning everything she knew about her own personal style. But after forcing herself to step away from the laptop and take a couple of days to process all the things in her head. Et voila, she was back on track and her renovation plans are back on track.
It happens to us all from time to time. I like to think I have a strong sense of my own style but in this line of work, you see so many lovely things and rooms, and it's easy to feel pulled in different directions. The trick is to stick to what makes your heart skip a beat. I can appreciate and enjoy other people's super minimal, unfussy spaces on Instagram but I know 100% that is not for me. Ditto for woven wall hangings and macrame. They have no place in my home, no matter how trendy they might be.

It's also true that your interiors style evolves. The look that first got me falling head over heels into interiors was Hollywood Regency. I loved the all out, unashamed glamour of it all and the fearless use of colour. It's the seed that started Gold is a Neutral. It's also the reason I have some quite snazzy gold Jonathan Adler wallpaper in my living room. More recently I've felt myself shifting away from that in favour of something a bit more low key. I still love it, but it's not as obvious in my home anymore. But there will always be a thread of that Hollywood glamour running through my Style DNA, whether it's a sputnik light; or my new bathroom, where the glitz and glamour is out in full force. And you never know, perhaps in a few years time, one of Lauren's pieces will find its way onto my walls.
So all that being said, I thought it would be fun to design a fun quiz to help you identify your own Interiors Style Personality. (Side note: It's ok to have a mix, scroll to the bottom to find out mine)

Tot them all up and what did you get?
Mostly A's - Boho Eclectic. You're drawn to the drama. Dark walls and lush layered textures in a sumptuous setting. More is definitely more.
Mostly B's - Mid-Century Modern. You know your Eames from your Saarinen and you can often be found scouring Ebay for new pieces. You're not afraid of colour and see yourself as a bit of a collector.
Mostly C's - Modern Luxe. You're all about the glamour. You're comfortable with colour as long as it's paired with brass and marble. Because gold IS a neutral! Practical is not really in your vocabulary when it comes to your home and you think Hygge is a town in Denmark.
Mostly D's - Minimalist. No, you cannot leave that rainbow cup there! Clutter puts you on edge....and don't even get you started on the #instasham movement, "What on earth are these people talking about? My house always looks this tidy!" You favour clean lines and zen-like calm in your home.
Mostly E's - Scandi-Rustic. You are so glad that Summer is coming to an end. Autumn and Winter is when you come into your own with candles, log fires and cuddles in chunky knit blankets. Bliss!
